The Theater of Pompey was one of the most famous Roman theaters, built around 61 BC by the will of Pompey in the monumental complex of the Champ Martius. The complex included, in addition to the theater, also a temple erected in honor of Venus Victoris, a large quadriportico embellished with fountains and plane trees and the Hecaconstylum (or Portico of the Hundred Columns).
Costanza Hostaria, is located inside the Teatro di Pompeo, and will immerse you in the splendor of ancient Rome, accompanying you on a journey steeped in history, culture and good food.
The history of the Theater of Pompey
Legend has it that during one of the idi of March (44 BC) Julius Caesar was stabbed under the statue of Pompey by Brutus and his companions.
After the death of Pompey, the Roman theater was neglected and ended up degrading more and more, but with the advent of Theodoric it was restored and continued to operate until the sixth century AD.
The first permanent theater in Rome, with a capacity of 20,000 spectators, the Theater of Pompey has gone through, over time, moments of disuse and disinterest.
The attire for this event is casual elegant.
